Now that summer is over, it's time to start preparing for the winter season and all that comes with it. For some people that means preparing for the flu season. While I personally prefer not to get the flu shot, I know many people do. So I wanted to share the news that Duane Reade will be administering flu shots at all its pharmacy locations during regular pharmacy hours.
Now you might think that getting a flu shot at Duane Reade means a lots of paperwork or a long process. Or at least that's what I thought until I had a chance to see NY Giants Chris Snee get his #DRFlushot at one of the Duane Reade stores.
As I watched Chris Snee go through the process I was amazed how fast everything happened. He arrived and after greeting some of his fans, he filled out the "Vaccine Administration Record (VAR) Informed Consent Form", rolled up his sleeve and got ready to receive the flu shot.
Then he chatted with one of Duane Reade pharmacist while he received the flu shot and then it was all done. He rolled down his sleeve and was ready to meet and greet with fans including my son. Just. Like. That.
As Chris meet his fans and signed autographs I briefly spoke with one of the Duane Reade pharmacist about the #DRFlushot process. Here's a few things I learned
- Duane Reade accepts most insurance plans
- Duane Reade administers flu shots anytime the pharmacy is open. Walk-ins are ok and accepted, but if you prefer you can schedule an appointment by calling a Duane Reade.
- The earlier you get a flu shot, the sooner you’re protected. You'll be protect all season long, even through peak flu periods like February and March.
- Duane Reade pharmacists go through an extensive training program to be able to provide immunization services. They can also send your doctor a copy of your immunization record.
After learning how simple it was to get the flu shot at Duane Reade, for those that want it, I decided to see what other flu coping items the store offered for those of us that decided not to get the flu shot.
